Having started training martial arts from the age of 7, the family has always had a strong foundation in martial arts, my grandfather Chen Guo Dong was a martial arts master who lived in the Hubei province of China. The exposure to various martial arts has provided a treasure in styles of Chinese Wu Shu, not to mention working knowledge of all of the 18 standard weapons of Chinese martial arts.

At the age of 16 I joined Australia's ‘Kung Fu All-stars’ headed by Sifu Gawain Sue of the Ging Mo Academy based in Perth Western Australia, here the team performed for many public events. At the age of 18 I worked on live stage performances with the Shaolin kung Fu School in Western Australia. Whilst promoting Chinese culture and martial arts theatre I was chosen as head Choreographer and led the performance group with lion dance troupes and directed Wushu performances for many events as well as coaching many actors and team members in acrobatics and stunts.
